Oakridge Smokehouse began doing business in 1946 as a locker plant (a holding place for frozen fresh and smoked meat) and a processer for smoked meat.  The country farmers brought their cattle in to be processed.  Peddlers who came to town to sell their wares to the local merchants would smell the aroma of fresh smoked meat and would inquire about purchasing some for their own use.  That was the birth of Oakridge Smokehouse.  In 1949, Oakridge began shipping our smoked meats to customers who had only received a hand written letter from us about our delicious smoked meats.  In 1951, Oakridge produced the first Oakridge Smokehouse Catalog!  The rest is history--People began to recognize our name as our products were tasted and enjoyed by customers and their friends.  We at Oakridge take great pride in our products and service and continually strive to improve so that you will continue to be delighted with our smoked products and other gourmet gifts.
